El próximo 12 de marzo en el Dolby Theatre de Los Ángeles, Estados Unidos, se llevará la edición 95 de la entrega de los premios Oscar.

Alrededor de 31 películas compiten por una de las estatuillas en las diversas categorías que son reconocidas en la gala.

En la ceremonia destaca la presencia de mexicanos como Guillermo del Toro, Alfonso Cuarón y Alejandro González Iñárritu.

Entre los presentadores de este año se encuentran Salma Hayek y Antonio Banderas.

¿Cuándo surgen?

Los Premios de la Academia tienen su origen el 16 de mayo del año 1929, cuando la floreciente industria empezó a premiar “la excelencia en logros cinematográficos”. Un par de años antes, en 1927, se había fundado la Academia Internacional de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas, bajo la iniciativa de Louis B. Mayer, presidente de la Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM).

En 1929, se celebró la primera ceremonia de los Premios de la Academia, en un banquete en el Blossom Room del Hotel Hollywood Roosevelt, con 270 invitados. En esa primera edición ya se conocían los ganadores: se habían anunciado con tres meses de antelación.

¿Dónde ver la gala?

El evento será conducido por Jimmy Kimmel, quien ya lo ha hecho en dos ocasiones anteriores. En México el evento se transmitirá este domingo por el canal de TNT y la plataforma de HBO Max, a partir de las 17:00 horas.

En televisión abierta, la premiación podrá seguirse a partir de las 17:00 horas por TV Azteca en el canal Azteca 7.
